Carpentry
This course of study offers students the opportunity to develop skills in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the building trades. Emphasis is placed on identifying and applying OSHA health and safety regulations and following practices used to avoid on-the-job accidents. students begin by building simple furniture and casework, and progress to kitchens and built-ins. The second phase of the program fouses on the skills required for residential construction. Topics include building code, floor, wall, and roof framing, exterior finish, and interior finish. In the process, the students learn to read and draw plans and to prepare stock lists.
